As far as changing the tryout dates, we in Fort
Gibson are definitely in favor of making the high school tryouts the
Saturday after All-State.  I can't be sure, but I think that I would have a
lot more kids trying out.  School starts and we are so caught up in marching
band, school musicals, football season, etc. that adding on All-District
tryout music just doesn't happen for most kids.  When I was in the northeast
district as a student, our all-district tryouts were in January and
all-state was in December.  It gives the "normal" kids more time to get
their crap together!  The Middle School students don't have as much going on
at the beginning of the year, so keeping their tryout the same date
shouldn't really be a problem.  The serious All-Staters already know their
music by the start of school anyway.  Just keep us informed on anything that
might affect our facilities.  I'll go ahead and check out the second
Saturday in December for 2008.  There shouldn't be anything going on at the
middle school buildings at that time.

Thanks for working on this for us!  You and Chris are doing a great job of
always trying to do what's best for the kids!
